Publication - What others have to sayTop

"I think it is wonderful that we are working closely with Top Women in Business and Government, because we share common ground with regards to the empowerment of our women and our economy, and [sic] that we both would like to see a bigger role for women, both locally as well as globally; and that we are committed to issues of black economic empowerment of men and women in general, to assimilating the vision and growth of our youth and to being a winning nation. I think our partnership is about sharpening the competitiveness of this country."
- Namane Magau, President, Businesswomen's Association of South Africa (BWA)

"We must never underestimate the powerfully motivating effect that is derived by women who are struggling to achieve recognition and respect within their chosen fields, when observing women achievers in all spheres of government and business being given the respect, recognition and acclaim that is due to them."
- Ann Tshepo Ngutshane, Human Resources Executive, arivia.kom

"Government is a large spender in the economy and employs a high number of women in policy-making and economically driven positions. Currently there is no space that keeps tabs on the strides government is making regarding gender empowerment other than Top Women in Business and Government."
- Cheryl Carolus, CEO, SA National Parks

"As an equal opportunities' employer, Standard Bank realises that by employing and empowering women it not only becomes more effective in its operations, but also attracts and retains the best talent to become more diverse, vibrant and globally competitive. Equally, by acknowledging the vast, untapped female market, we take the financial services industry to a whole new level."
- Jaco Maree, Chief Executive, Standard Bank

"I was invited to speak at a conference as a result of being "spotted" in the 2005 edition of Top Women in Business and Government."
- Zenariah Barends, Transformation Director, Premier Fishing

"For recent events organised by SANEC we have turned to the Top Women in Business and Government publication to ensure a proper match between women entrepreneurs from the Netherlands and those in South Africa. This tool proved invaluable in linking profiles; an exercise that has resulted in new business relations between women in both countries to such an extent that an ongoing network has emerged."
- Mar-Loes Mantoua, General Manager, SANEC

"I have recently discovered an insight treasure in the Top Women in Business and Government publication. There is much creativity and high quality work showcasing a calibre of women in various businesses and sectors in South Africa. I can think of a few publications that put issues of women empowerment high on agenda, but Top Women in Business and Government worth a glance. It is interesting to note that after 10 years of democracy, the participation of women in corporate executive levels is still lagging behind. President Thabo Mbeki has set the standard that hinges on others to follow. Put simply, the commitment to empower women is the landmark of gender equity. Research shows that males are still at the helm of the economy and predominantly white folks. The Businesswomen's Association survey also found that 53,5% of SA boards have no female directors and 27,7% have only one. This situation is unsettling and has a negative effect on gender transformation in all spheres of society. Despite this setback, there is light at the end of the tunnel. For as long as projects such as Top Women in Business and Government play an important role in changing the mindset."
- Morgan Phaahla, Ekurhuleni
